This Trek Boone is built for gravel racing with Praxis Works Carbon 48/32 cranks, GRX Di2 Shifters, Ultegra RX Di2 (with clutch) rear derailleur, and Black Inc. 30 Carbon wheels shod with Bontrager GR2 40 mm tires. With an 11-36 rear cassette it has a very good gear range. The chainrings are direct mount with three bolts (SRAM 3 bolt direct mount rings and spiders fit). For cross season I removed the front derailleur, taped the Di2 wire to the seat tube, and replaced the double chain ring with direct mount 40 tooth. For road use, I used 50/34 chain rings. You could also add a Wolf Tooth GoatLink and run a single chain ring with an 11-42 cassette or SRAM 10-42 with XD Driver (have done both). The Trek Boone’s geometry has a little more trail than a Crux, so it is stable on gravel but still nimble enough to competently descend a mountain road on road tires. The 40mm tires are about the max size that will fit and still have mud clearance, so it is not a big tire, chunky trail gravel bike. However, that tire size limitation is what allows it to use traditional road cranks (52/36 would be about the max size) and keep its wheelbase decently short. The Black Inc. Carbon 30 wheels are designed for off road use and have 21mm inner width and 30mm outer width with a hooked bead. A hooked bead, while heavier, allows use of standard clincher (not tubeless) tires and provides a little more tire security for low pressure cross use. The 21mm inner width is appropriate for 25mm to 40mm tires. The Boone frameset is lighter than an Emonda SL but has rear Iso Speed and fits a little taller and shorter, having a stack of 58 and reach of 387 (like a Cervelo Caledonia). The Boone is also slightly lighter than a Domane SLR, but has less stack and more reach, providing a more aggressive position for those that need it. The bike as pictured weighs 17 lbs, 7 oz. If the bike is so great, why am I selling? I moved to a place with sand roads and need a 48mm tire minimum, which this bike cannot do. The full specs are as follows:
Frame-Trek Boone 600 OCLV Size 56
Wheelset-Black Inc. 30 Carbon
Handlebar-Trek IsoZone Pro Carbon VR-SF 42cm
Shifters-Shimano GRX Di2
Crankset-Praxis Works Carbon 172.5 with 48/32 rings
Front Derailleur-Ultegra Di2
Rear Derailleur-Ultegra Di2 RX (with Clutch)
Saddle-Bontrager Montrose Pro with carbon rails.
Junction Box-Bar end.
This bike does not come with a Di2 charger as I still have another Di2 bike. Picture Bontrager Carbon bottle cages are included. The tires are set up tubeless but do not have sealant. Shipping is $150 to the continental US by Bike Flights. If shipping is less than $150, I will refund the difference. I will ship to Canada but will have to price shipping as Bike Flights includes the customs duties in the shipping charge.
